Acacia Values Academics
Academic achievement is the first and foremost priority of all college students. Scholastic achievement is also central to the mission of Acacia Fraternity. In fact, Intellectual Growth is a focal point of Cornerstones, our membership development program (see inside for details). During the 2007-2008 academic year, the Acacia Fraternity Foundation awarded cash scholarships and educational grants totaling more than $250,000.

Acacia Develops Leaders
Acacia Fraternity is dedicated to building leaders by providing a wealth of experiences and opportunities for our members. Be it academics, business, social issues, or philanthropy, Acacians gain a serious edge from their fraternity experience. After all, the Acacians of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

Acacia Promotes and Values Fitness
As part of the Cornerstones program, members are encouraged to develop physical wellness plans, learn about men’s health issues, and participate in intramural athletics. Members of all athletic ability will find an outlet for physical development in Acacia Fraternity.

Acacians Know How to Have Fun
Men of Acacia take their social development seriously. Meeting new people and networking within the Greek community are a key aspect of the college experience. Cornerstones encourages social activities which promote mature choices and safeguard the dignity of every individual. Acacia has a zero tolerance policy against hazing and illegal activities, including underage consumption of alcohol.

Acacians Help Better The Communities in Which They Reside
Our motto is Human Service, and we take that ideal to heart. As part of Acacia Fraternity, you will have multiple opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. Events such
as “Acacia Claus” and “Seven Days of Service” are just a starting point for the countless hours volunteered and dollars raised by our members.

Why Go Greek?
The Greek community boasts a proud tradition that dates back nearly two centuries. Fraternity men and sorority women share common values of service, academics, and friendship. These men and women are consistently found leading other campus organizations, holding esteemed positions within the community, and at the forefront of the professional world.

Why We Don’t Have Greek Letters
For many fraternities, the two or three Greek letters that compose their name are an abbreviation for a motto or the name of their mentor. Our fraternity was founded in 1904 by fourteen Master Masons and given the name “Acacia” (akakia) to designate Distinctiveness and Leadership among Mankind. Acacia is the only founding member of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) to have chosen a Greek word for its name instead of Greek letters. We are unique, and so is our name.
